Greetings,
I am a day late getting the Farm News out to you this time but hopefully you will read it before tomorrow (Sat.). We have been extremely busy planting crops, taking care of the animals, and going to the market. There is a lot more work growing things using organic methods but we believe the taste and health benefits are well worth it. One of our customers sent an email saying she had purchased a beef roast and had never had meat so delicious. Well, we love to hear that!
We are glad for the recent rains that make our crops ’smile’ as my Father used to say. And the cows are completely contented with all the lush grass to munch on. However, we did have a hailstorm that damaged some of our early crops which were ready to harvest. But the frogs and toads are really enjoying all the dampness. Their singing is a continual roar at night.
At present, our hours at the Piedmont Triad Farmers Market are Wednesday – Friday (9:00 until 3:00) and Saturday (8:00 until 4:00).
Our freezer is well stocked with all cuts of Pasture Finished Jersey Beef.
In pork we have delicious mild sausage, shoulder roast, ham roast, and ribs.
We have a good amount of fresh eggs from our free range chickens.
From the garden we have sugar snap peas, two kinds of lettuce, and arugula.
We are planning to take our first flock of Pasture Raised Chickens to the processor on Monday (11th) so we should have them at the market next weekend.
Since Sunday is Mother’s Day maybe we have something that would make your celebration complete. We will look for you to come by the market to visit with us!
